Spring Break is over and it's time to get back to normal practicing and lesson schedules! Our Spring Recital is coming up a little earlier than usual this year: Saturday, May 15, at 10:00 am. That means we only have 4 lessons and 1 group lesson before our recital, so practicing every day is essential.
I am so proud of the way everyone performed at Federation. Everyone got either superior or excellent ratings, and all of my students received outstanding comments! Great job everyone! Congratulations to Seth Hamilton, who will receive his first gold cup this year!
Group lessons will be April 20 and 21 this month from 4:30-5:30 pm. Please remember that group lessons are not a week off. They are an important part of your child's music education, and we talk about things in group lessons that we just don't have time to cover in their weekly private lesson. We also work on playing as an ensemble, another valuable musical skill than can only be learned by coming to group. This month we will be working on our Chorus ensemble, which we will play at our Spring Recital.
Keep up the good work on memorizing those key signatures! I would like to award the keychains at our Spring Recital, so see if we can get them memorized by the beginning of May. Good job Kelsey, Jaden and Shelby Bond, on getting all your keys memorized! See if you can get them to share any tips or tricks they might have used. I have a flashcard sheet that I can copy for you if you need one.
There is a fiddle competition coming up in May and another in September, put on by the Utah Old Time Fiddlers. Several of you have expressed interest in participating in the contest in September, so it might be useful (and lots of fun!) to go and watch the competition in May. It is held in Salt Lake City at Wheeler Farms, and I have a flyer for you if you are interested.
I've updated the Phone List for Exchanging Lessons, and you can access that by clicking the link at the top of this page, to the right. Look forward to seeing you this week!
